Fire Cider for the WIN!

The Cold and Flu Season is upon us here in New Jersey! To help prevent and/or combat illness in our house, one of my favorite herbal remedies is Fire Cider! It's spicy, warming, a little sweet, and it literally kicks butt!

My Go To Recipe is as follows: (I don't really do measuring so its all a rough estimate!)



Red Onion - diced

2 heads of garlic chopped

1 Jalapeno - halved

Horseradish - grated

Ginger - grated




Turmeric powder

Black Peppercorns

Apple Cider Vinegar (I use Bragg's)

*Raw Local Honey * saved for later

Place veggies, herbs/spices in a large glass Mason Jar and cover with ACV.

Use a piece of parchment paper between the ingredients and the metal lid to avoid corrosion from the vinegar.

Place jar in a warm, dry, dark spot (I like to place mine on top of the refrigerator) and leave to ferment for 4-6 weeks.

Give the brew a shake once daily.

After 4-6 weeks:

Strain liquid through cheesecloth into another glass jar.

Whisk in Honey to taste.

Seal with lid.

Will remain shelf stable in cabinet up to 1 year.

Take 1 tsp. daily to boost your immune system for prevention.

If sick take 1 tsp. every 4-6 hours.
